Bad Staffelstein is located in a beautiful area of Franconia. Whether you would like to eat Italian, Greek, Mongolian, Chinese, Thai,  Mexican or try the delicious Franconian cuisine, you will find the perfect restaurant in Bad Staffelstein or in the surrounding area.

Anyone who wants to experience the Franconian food culture can stop at one of the numerous traditional inns or modern restaurants. Most restaurants are not only decorated in the original Franconian style, but also offer a variety of traditional dishes from the region. The guest has the choice between the different meat, fish or vegetable dishes, a cold snack lunch and much more.

You can order trout prepared in a typically Franconian way or enjoy other dishes prepared with fish from the region. Or you can choose delicious roast meat. Come and enjoy game shot locally, venison and wild boar. Or poultry, including roast goose and duck. Naturally roast beef and pork are on the menu accompanied by such vegetables as savoy, spinach, sauerkraut or red cabbage all prepared from fresh regional products. Then there are the dumplings, potato, flour or roll dumplings. Thus with every roast dish you can enjoy the dumpling, which fits perfectly with the gravy, the roast itself and the vegetables. Just appreciate the wonderful flavours.

Those who prefer to take a cold meal can also order a “Hausmacherplatte” (a home-made lunch plate). It is usually served with many different types of sausage from their own slaughter house or supplied by a local butcher. Bread, often home-made, will accompany the meal. Another typical cold snack lunch is “weißer Käs(e)” (white cheese) with onions and bread, which is often offered together with the cold meat, or you can order it separately. All restaurants have their own recipes with a long tradition that add an individual character to the various dishes.

Typically the portions of Franconian food are very large and the prices are very reasonable. It is really worth trying the local dishes in one of the many restaurants where you will of course be received with Franconian hospitality. It is also a must to buy sausages at the butchers’ shops. Each sausage differs in taste because every butcher has his own secret recipe for his spice mixtures, so it is also worth visiting the various butchers’ shops and tasting the different sausages. Franconian cuisine is exceptional and tourists will never regret the pleasure of experiencing it.
