Activities in and around the water
Bad Staffelstein not only offers a thermal spa which is used exclusively for rest and regeneration. It also has a fun-and-action swimming pool “Aqua Riese” and lakes for swimming and other water sports.
All of which are located in the northeast of the city. You can reach them within a 15 minute walk from the train station.
The Highlight of the “Aqua Riese” swimming pool is the swirl. It is great fun for young and old.
A visit to the “Aqua Riese” with its various activities such as water gymnastics, diving courses, swimming lessons for babies and its three separate swimming pools is always a special experience.Along with resting areas with massaging water jets, there is an adventure pool, a giant dolphin you can climb on with a waterfall, a swirl and a 50m long water slide. There are also attractions for babies and toddlers such as a canal with small boats and a baby slide. It also has a swimming pool with five 25m lanes and a diving board.
Outside of the pool there is an inviting green meadow with lots of lounge chairs for sunbathing or relaxing.
If you get hungry, there is also a restaurant inside the building
The Eastern Lake is a by-product of a gravel quarry which was dug in the 60s. The lake celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2003.
The 9 ha lake is located right behind the “Aqua Riese” and can be enjoyed by the whole family during the summertime.
The swimming lake in Bad Staffelstein is a fun place for the whole family. There is no difference whether you take a boat ride and play in the shallow water or simply relax in the sun. There are many opportunities to have fun.
On the shore of the lake there is a little restaurant where you can buy delicious snacks and refreshing drinks.
Tip: Every year in the summer there is a Viking boat race and a water Olympiad, an unforgettable experience for young and old.
The annual “Drachenbootrennen” is fun for everyone
